Check Out My Whale Impersonation*

Warning: Very graphic belly pictures included.(Update--pictures removed temporarily)

When I saw Motel Manager's pictures of her super cute 24-week belly, I had to laugh somewhat insanely as I looked down at my own 23-week belly. Yes, I know I have twins in there, but twin what--whales?? It certainly feels like that sometimes when they are thrashing around in my uterus. I imagine them doing all sorts of water tricks in there.

Anyhow, since this is a first-time pregnancy for me, I thought it would mean a delay in my, er, blossoming. Not the case, it seems.

I am amazed at my body's ability to make this transformation. After the disappointment/despair of not being able to conceive on my own, it's nice to see my body taking it's job so seriously. I just hope it isn't working too hard too fast. I can only imagine it is growing in response to the babys' needs, and they must be doing a good job growing in there.

Hi Emmie -

Cute belly pictures!! I keep meaning to post more of my own.

And it can be depressing to see yourself before pregnancy - I understand that - but I am enjoying my little round belly at the same time - just like you.

I think you are an adorable whale... and you're growing two little whales of your own! You have such a tiny frame so the belly is more pronounced, and of course the twins make it extra special!

Thanks for sharing... I hope to be able to do this one day as well.

OMG!!! that was so funny. i mean, I wasn't expecting the "skinny you in bikini" photo at the end :) you're right, I have to post a belly photo on my blog soon. I, too, am terrified of just how big I am going to get - will I perhaps EXPLODE???

I think you look beautiful! Look at that GORGEOUS belly!!! and your belly button has already popped out! (At 19 weeks, mine hasn't quite yet)

Oh. My. God. Emmie!!

I will stop complaining now. Your belly is HUGE!!!

"It's all for a good reason" - it can be the mantra.

You look beautiful in the bikini picture!! :)

Unfortunately I can't see the pregnancy pictures. For some reason they just aren't there on my screen. :(

I just wanted to say that I TOTALLY understand your concern and why you feel the way you do. Even though I'm obviously not pregnant yet one of my biggest worries is how my body will respond to pregnancy and what type of permanent damage will be sustained from it.

Most people that I have talked to about this are able to get there old body back -- especially if they are eating right (which it sounds like you are) and continuing to exercise at least moderately during pregnancy. The big thing will be trying to breastfeed afterwards and keeping up with exercise. I am sure taking care of two babies will be exercise in and of itself!!

For some reason I have a feeling you will be one of those lucky women that loses all the weight in the first 2 months and makes me insanely jealous! I've been right in my predictions regarding you before so you'll just have to hope I'm right on this one too! :)

It's absolutely amazing how much your body can grow to accomodate those 2 growing babies. And even though it takes time to lose all the weight, it does snap back pretty quickly all things considered.

You look so cute! I'm glad you're doing so well. I suppose our bodies are made to accomodate such things, so one way or another, it will work out! Take care.

Aww, you look great! I agree that the 'before' and 'after' are a little dramatic. Just think - you'll look like that again someday - and you'll have twin whales to show off! :)
