In the middle of the night...

I get up every hour, on the hour, like clockwork. I finally gave up and decided to write a quick post and check out anything else new in Blogland.

My parents were near my house today for an afternoon party, so they called to see if they could stop by and bring dinner. This was a surprise...my parents never just stop by, even when I encourage them to. I said okay, as long as they understood I was not doing so well and would probably stay in bed. I figured H would definitely benefit from some decent food and company. It turned out to be a very nice visit, and the dinner they brought was amazing. Several of my favorite fresh veggies that they steamed when they arrived, a colorful salad, and ribs they picked up from a nearby restaurant. It was the best meal I ate all week.

My parents were shocked to see how my condition has deteriorated from just a few weeks ago at Easter. My knees and calves have swollen up to match my balloon feet and I can barely hobble around. My parents immediately saw the increased size of my already over-extended belly. My mom, who typically has no pity for any pain I describe or will match it with her own story of discomfort, was all sympathy (several times I've heard how she had to walk uphill in snow with swollen feet a week before she delivered me). I think this means I'm going to die, because my mom has never shown sympathy for any pain I've been in...she's just not the comforting type. That's always been my dad's role.

Yeah, so I'm pretty uncomfortable right now. Anxiously awaiting Tuesday. Praying the babes will be okay. Praying I will be okay. Surgery scares me, though I've been trying not to focus on it. If you don't hear from me the next two days, I'll be back soon, hopefully doing a lot better with two boys in my arms.

You sound so uncomfortable that it makes me feel vicariously uncomfortable (though I'm sure I can only imagine a small fraction of what you are feeling). Tuesday is soon! I will be sending good vibes to you and looking forward to an update on Jamie's blog. I am also afraid of surgery, but I suspect it will go well for both of us! Hang in there!

Hi Emmie - It's Lisa. Just wanted you to know you're in my thoughts and prayers for this upcoming monumental awesome event! I have no doubt all will go well. And sorry to hear about all your discomfort. I can only imagine as I'm heading quickly toward my 34th week and am semi-miserable on some days, and that's just with a singleton! I did giggle at your comment about 'how you think you're going to die due to your mom's unusual sympathy.' Nice to see you still have your wit intact.
You're a trooper and I commend you for the seemingly classy and humbling way you're handled these almost nine months. Big hugs to you and your husband and esp. those little treasures. Can't wait to hear how it went.
~Lisa
P.S. Make no apologies for having to set 'visitor boundaries' once your bundles of joy arrive! It is a time for you and H to bond with the babies, not to mention for you to recuperate from surgery. It's your time to be a Queen....good luck.

We have the same mother!

I am beginning to swell up too. My feet (cankles) and fingers are swollen. And I wake up in the morning with such bad carpal tunnel now that i can't bend my fingers for a while. The pain is excruciating! walking hurts, because it feel like my feet are bruised. I could go on and on and on....

Good luck on tuesday. So exciting!!! I am sure everything will be just fine! And your boys will be in your arms very soon!

Good luck with the delivery Emmie! I hope to hear great news from you soon!

My babies are schedules to appear via c-section on Thursday, just hours shy of 37 weeks. We aren't waiting any longer because A is falling off the growth charts.

I hope everything will be great for both of us!
